    somewhat worried about this stuff…

5 terminal wiring block. hmm nothing untoward – 2xlive 2xneu 1xearth… except L2 and N1 are missing screws.

dad reckon the 2x live and 2x neu should be bridged. anyone wanna suggest how?

the only things i can think of are those copper “u” bridges but im not sure if you can get those small enough, or 6 core 1mm cable… but thaT SEEMS IFFY ?

According to Repairtech you have to find your own links. We use 6mm twin & earth blue and brown.

Have found this to be fine.

    Hi

It doesn’t need to be 6mm. Use 2.5mm as the links are only supplying 2 plates.

So unless ive read this wrong your saying a single 6mm core from std cooker T&E will serve as a suitable bridge. In theory this sounds fine but the aperture on the terminal block is tiny (certainly doesnt appear large enough to support 2x 6mm core connections), and as previously stated, there are no screws anyway in L2 and N1 to secure one end of a bridge!

I spoke to gillmans on sat last week who told me they would send some screws out within the next few days, but yet to see anything 🙁

Im fast losing faith in this MontP kit if they cant even wire it up right… especially when the customer is virtually demanding a refund so she can go elsewhere :/

Just out of interest, is there any possible issue with moving the hob-side L2 wires to sit in the L1 terminal, and likewise with the hob-side N1 wires to sit in the N2 terminal, so i dont have to use a bridge? Its been so long since ive seen this hob i cant quite remember the details!

All the ceramic hobs we have installed have had the screws already in situ, 6mm T&E is a little tight but it does fit.

Cheap hob, poor quality control, just great :rolls:

you got 5 screws? i only got the 3. STILL waiting for 2 of the lil’ grubs from gloustershire to turn up. would have been quicker to machine my own :rolls: so looks like my hob must have been one of the second batch made, where costcutting was the first priority 😡

    Re: montpellier hobs

    just an update… repairtech. bwah.

they sent me 2x brass bridges (which was useful) but there were no terminal blocks held in stock (which was bloody useless). and were none on order. i suggested to the poor girl on the phone that there may be a batch issue problem (my hob was from the twinpak oven+hob, not just a ct4 on its own) and i got a phone call from her manager 30 mins later saying all worthwhile electrical installers should have these parts in their toolbox as a spare anyway and inferred if they hadnt, then they shouldnt be wiring up the hobs. espesh as tho on their notes i had queried the wiring, apparantly any electrician would have worked the bridging arrangement as definite and not questioned it, but because it was logged i had queried it and not just assumed the wiring situation i had shown a lack of compitance. *annoyed*. so maybe its a fair comment if the parts they were using were std electrical components were like any of the other major brands’ kit. but the hob is from china and the term. block is nothing like any of the other euro/turk kit out there.

So dont bother with spares, and the aftersales attitude is so disattractive i dont htink ill both with montp kit again.

    Re: montpellier hobs

Must say I supplied one of these hobs last week and will not be supplying another. Terminal block is too small, positioned badly and trying to get 6mm TW+E in there is a feat in itself.
Repairtech sent me half a dozen links after I complained to the DAD rep but it was days late.

The terminal blocks are ceramic so wont melt so maybe switching the hob side wires into 1 hole may have been an option.

had considered this but it occurred to me as its a budget hob that there must have been a reason for it to be a 5-block and not a 3 and erring on caution’s side that a single connection might not take the full 6kw load
