Hello
I have a IWDD 7123 indesit washer dryer. In the manual it says the drum capacity is 52 litres but it only uses a fraction of the drum capacity so I would like to increase the water capacity, how can i do this ?

ok. Is there any way i could increase the water in the drum.
(just wondering why does the manual say the capacity is 52 litres if it wont fill that much then ? )

That is the measured space/capacity inside the whole drum, as in ‘this room is 500 cubic metres’ in volume.
It is not an indication of the amount of water going into the drum. As Martin has said you cannot, should not and really have no need to alter the amount of water going into the drum.

Roughly, about half to three quarters (at best) of the drum volume is actually useable for laundry if you want clothing washed properly and to come out undamaged.
But virtually all machines now use infinitely variable pressure sensors couple to thermistors to control temperature and an electronic brain to control the two. The reason being the demands for better efficiency and lower energy use so, this has to be more accurate and also more efficient and you can’t do that with old clunky analogue components.
Hence, it cannot be adjusted as it’s hard coded into the software in the electronic brains of your machine.
Not only that, the actual amount of water used will vary on every single load depending on how much clothing is in the machine, the absorbency of the laundry and so on. In other words, it isn’t and cannot be a hard preset amount of water that is drawn into the machine.
In recent times, the past ten years or so, I have not seen a washing machine or dishwasher that works in any other manner.
To be honest though, you’ll be lucky to use 52 litres of water for a full cotton cycle these days much less on one fill as usually on a normal fill for a normal-ish load you’ll be using about 5-8 litres per fill.
Even if you change machine the same basic principals will apply to any you buy these days.
