    Hello,

For some time, the grill in my Diplomat oven has not worked. Similar to the experience of the poster here, it failed in stages, intermittently coming back to life before giving up for good. The inconvenience led me to order a replacement element, however having fitted this, the grill is still completely dead.

What should I be looking to test next as a potential source of the failure? For example, the AHY3640 has a dedicated knob for controlling the grill setting, is this something that might fail and can be tested easily?

    Grateful for any advice,

    Sarah

Since posting yesterday, I’ve had the oven out, tinkered with some of the connections and, for five minutes, had everything working perfectly again, grill included. However, as soon as I had lifted it back into its unit, the grill was useless again.

The function switch seems to working in that it still allows for the oven to be selected, I’m assuming that it’s unlikely to fail for only the two grill settings. Would it be more likely that the grill setting control (regulator?) is the faulty culprit? How would I test for this?

Saw this at the shop, but obviously don’t want to buy stuff on the off chance that it might be the faulty part.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered!

Yes, almost certainly the regulator if the grill element is okay.

    Thanks K.

Is there a way in which I can test the regulator to confirm that it’s faulty?

Yep, just use a meter to test that it’s making when switched on. You’ll have to work out the wiring a bit but it shouldn’t be that hard.
