    Mad.

But admirably demonstrates the point I often make which is that, even if you get the legislation, it has to be enforced to be worth a jot.

It took the ‘enforcers’ 10 years to eventually catch him. Clearly from this those that are currently up to date with their Gas Safe registration are monitored. But those that let their registration lapse and give excuses as to why they have not renewed their registration OR have been expelled are left free to carry on.

That means that Gas Safe can police their current membership but outside of that WHO checks up on these guys I wonder, HSE perhaps? Do they get up from behind their office desks and carry out spot checks? I doubt it.

It certainly proves things need to change.

Strict measure controlled by govt need to be implemented.

Luckily these kinda incidents and repeat offenders are rare, but if people are determined to continue, no punishment is likely to work, unless you remove them from society, for ever. But strict controlled measure’s hopefully would make people stay legal.

And…. who’s going to pay for those strict controls if the country is skint and can’t afford to jail people when they admit to breaking the law? And, far more serious that anything we could ever do for the large part.

That would be industry as government won’t.

Keep telling you, it is turkeys voting for Xmas 2 to go down that road.
