Our Widl 126 runs the wash program but never ends washing (and so does not move onto the dry). We literally have to stop the program and start a spin/dry program.

The wash and dry programs independently work fine, but program 3 (75 minutes as per manual) just runs endlessly.

I checked various components and did some basic removal of dust/fluff but saw nothing damaged.

Really don’t know what component is likely to stop the wash and start the dry.

Checked other posts here and can say that the washer does not have any of the fault lights on.

    Any ideas, help very welcome.

The wash heater will cause it to stick on wash if it has failed. Needs testing with megger or suitable multimeter.

    Hi

That seems like a good orientation. Checked the heater and ordered a new one.

Will see then if this is the final fix

I’ve finally put my hands on a brand new genuine heater.

    Repleacement was a brieze

However, it does not solve the issue.

So either this heater is also defective (I really doubt) or there is something else.

But the heater never seems to heat up. I’m not sure whether this is because the program never reaches “heat”, or because the heater does not receive electricity to heat.

    Any suggestions ?

Do you actually have the means and the know how to test the heater for resistance and continuity, did you test the original heater with a megger or multimeter before you ordered and fitted a new one?

You need to find out if you are getting power to the heater in the first place. May pay to get an engineer in

When I removed the heater it was all consumed by deposits, so I decided it was a good idea to change it regardless – hoping this would also do the trick.

    Apparently I was too optimistic.

Where I live, getting an engineer will cost more that purchasing a new washer/dryer. Normally that is what I do. But trying to waste less and the fact that this is a great washer/dryer has me trying to fix it.

Rather than attach my voltmeter to the heater and start the program and wait, I opted for placing a LED between one of the heater leads and earth. Once the program starts It never lights, but – as in my previous post – I’m not sure that it has reached heat cycle.

I also noticed that if I short the thermostat, the program seems to switch forwards after a few instants.

    Worked on this more;

The new heater works (I connected it directly to the mains)

The thermostat seems to work as if I connect a voltmeter to it and let the heater work, it meter changes gradually.

I’ve worked myself back to the electronic card in the back. And worked myself into this board.

Any way of knowing if the board/or relays work with an easy test ?

    thanks ahead

It’s an ntc, not a thermostat, however you are indulging in some very dangerous practises so as they say on Dragons Den, “I’m out”

I don’t understand you. Easy to give half replies and then shy away.

Maybe you would care to provide something more meaningful than one-liners that only prove you are certainly very competent, but obviously not inclined to really help.

Zoe, your statement about putting a live feed on the heater and your reckless use of a voltmeter. Followed by your intention of going at the circuit board in a similar fashion didn’t come over well at best. Positively reckless a more reasoned conclusion. Often we professionals despair at what members of the general public get up to. Your safety is of concern to us and with that in mind I suggest you allow a local independent repairer in to fix the machine for you. Advising you further toward your DIY repair is best avoided, sorry! 🙁

If I saw an old lady trying to cross the road I would be the first to help, if it was a young lad playing chicken on the motorway I would keep well away, whilst shouting at him not to be so silly.

You totally ignored the advice I gave in my very first post which was to test the heater with a suitable megger or multimeter. If you can’t even perform that simple task you should not be messing around with electrical appliances.
