KeymasterHullo, can anyone advise?
Indesit DE43 Dishwasher refuses to start up – flashes the word OFF and the ‘drying’ indicator together.
Anyone know what this code means?Prior to this I had trouble shutting the door and noticed the latch had got stuck the wrong way – had to ping it back with a screwdriver…
Thanks,

That isn’t a fault code as far as I can tell Mags.
I would say though the problem still lies with the door catch, check there first.
Pull the plug beforehand though :zap:

I opened the front panel and made sure the switch on the door was still functioning – it closes when the catch flips as expected. so that all seems ok.
only other thing of note was that the ‘cycle selection switch’ (program selection knob) must be loose – if you jiggle it the display briefly flickers to show the time for option 1 as if theres a loose connection. not sure if i have ever seen this before now…
no obvious sign of any loose connection inside, unless i need a whole new switch (£8 wow).
thanks,

I would replace it at that price, yes, then let us know how you get on 😀

Hurrah – solved it – it was the catch after all. Whilst I had checked the electrical switch did work, what I hadnt checked was whether the latch was fully closing when the door was shut – it wasnt. So the switch wasnt closing.
A squirt of WD40 on the moving bits and spring inside, and it began to ping back far more forcefully!
Of course, nothing is ever simple, I cut my finger and bled all over the dishwasher and my trousers…bah!

Well done Mags 😀 Apart from the finger chopping of course, come with the territory 😉
