Hi guys, a little help required if possible.

I have a problem with my Baumatic BDW45.1
It started by tripping an 80A RCD.
I gave it a restart (and everything else on a socket in the flat) and it did the same again.
This time, however, when I went to restart it, the display went haywire. If I pressed the time delay button or the wash type button, the lights would flick through all the options with a continuous beeping.
So I decided to have a peak under the bonnet. I took off the side panels and a couple other access panels and found nothing obviously wrong. No blackened terminals, no evidence of a water leak etc.
I gave it a rest that day and came back to it the next.
This time, it would indicate the temp but pressing the buttons didnt change anything.
I came back to it the next day and just once, as I turned it on at the power switch, it acted normally. However, I opened the lid, played about with it etc and it just went back to indicating the temp without letting me choose a wash cycle.
Any clues as to what may have initially tripped the RCD or the subsequent issues?
I’m a trained engineer myself, just dont know much about white goods & would prefer to fix things rather than just chuck it out.
Thanks in advance for any help, it would be gratefully received.

Is this a difficult issue to have a guess at without seeing the dishwasher?
Anyone care to have a stab at it? Even if its just a guess?
I would really appreciate some support here.

Tripping of the RCD inevitably means an earth insulation leak somewhere (main motor or heater main offenders). Using an earth insulation test meter (aka Megger) is the only way of locating the offending component.
