ParticipantHi, I am after a bit of advice please.I have the samsung rs21dcsv which now has gone faulty. it had the noisey fan syndrome.I defrosted and added the upgrade kit, Unfortunately The problem still persists.I have noticed that the freezer fan has stopped working. I have checked it with an external power source.
Q1
Would the freezer fault cause the fridge to be faulty also.
Q2
Is it worth replacing the fan or are there likely to be other faults

Hi
The most common faults are from the fridge section.
When was the fridge parts changed ?
What parts was changed ?
How did you check the fan and what voltage ?
what tests on what components have you done ?Bryan

Hi Bryan
Thanks for the reply
I replaced everything in the fridge compartment, thermal fuse, defrost heaters and defrost sensor. just left the fan, this worked when I checked with a 12 V external supply.
I just wondered if a faulty freezer fan would cause the fridge to play up also? Oh I replaced the parts last week.it was ok for a few days then the temp started to rise,I suppose the ice build up caused the fan to burn out. Many thanks

Has it had the modification fuse board fitted ? within the main pcb box ? have you checked there.

Hi yes it had the updated fuse pcb fitted some years ago
The one fuse has blown, it’s the 3.15a nearest the 5uf capacitor

Hi
Well that may well be your problem.. Just make sure you’ve also changed the defrost heater and put the thermal fuse in the correct position.

If the fuse has not cured the problem and you have replaced and checked the heater and thermal fuse and defrost sensor.
Then you can check the air sensor.
I had an RS21 with the fault of the fan not working and it was the fridge air sensor faulty.
This sensor should be just for sensing the temperature for the display but when a new one was fitted the fan worked ok again. This was the only time I have ever had to replace the air sensor as normally this sensor does not give any problems.
You also need to check it is defrosting ok and the fan has not iced up as you said it worked ok for a few days after you replaced the heater.
