Police advertising scam back

Last year I had a phone call like this and declined the offer then researched online.

Today I had a phone call it started like this.

Hello I am the local police community officer for ( he then give the area I run my business from ).

I am working with the council and and the local police magazine to list the local trusted traders would you be interested to be the only one listed for Appliance repairs.

I replied how do you know I would be a trusted trader.

He replied because you done a job recently and was recommended to me so would you be interested.

I replied do you have to pay to be listed ?

He replied I do not know yet as it depends on the interest of local traders if we go to print.

I replied I do not pay for advertising and only use free advertising.

Before I could say anything else the phone went clunk and he hung up.

This is a advertising scam with a blocked number and if you agree you will get a bill through the post and little or no booklets printed.

Hope this helps as this is a national company in the Midlands who use this under one of there scams, and try every year with the police scam and if you research on line Trading standards cannot act as it is a business to business scam.
