ParticipantAbove frost free fridge freezer. Fridge and freezer too cold. Fridge thermistor reading 12K. Did not check the freezer thermistor if there is one. Likely to be module? This is square not the old long ones.

Simon
the easy way to check if the module is at fault is to turn the control knob to the of position, if the compressor still runs it the module, if not its the system or the sensor, by the way this module does have a test built in to it.Cheers Bob.

Change them both I would Simon.
PCB 41007946
Thermistor 49003477There’s a tech bulletin on both of those part numbers as well which I think comes with the PCB.
Dave.

Thanks to QER for saving the day. As Bob said turning to 0 did not stop compressor. Thanks to all for your help. I might actually start making a profit with the help of this site!
Yours gratefully

Oh dear fridge is now freezing again. Looks like i should have replaced sensor. Does anybody know that if sensor is faulty, will the fridge module still switch off if turned to 0. Would like to diagnose before i order more parts. Also is sensor foamed into cabinet or is it easy to fit?
Regards

Hi Simon,
first thing to check is the module,
Test Mode- Switch off appliance at the mains, turn thermostat dial fully clockwise to the (super) position, repower the appliance the green light will illuminate, within 7 seconds turn the thermostat to the off position, the yellow light should also illuminate, within 7 seconds turn the dail to position 2, the test starts.
1- fridge sensor check, if ok both leds out for 7 seconds if faulty leds flash for 7 seconds.
2-defrost heater on for 7 secs.
3-electrics off, all power off including interior light 7 secs.
4-return to normal operation.
If this proves to be ok carefully check the temp on the fridge cold wall as this may be a system fault.
please let me know the outcome.
do you have a tel/fax number please PM it as there is further tests.Cheers Bob.

Hi Simon,
if you turned the thermostat to the off position and the compressor did not stop it is most certaily the module.
has the dail knob been fitted the right way round ?.
further advice can be given by telephone if you require it just send me a PM with your number.February 25, 2005 at 3:40 pm #126106Simon46

Spoke to Bob and he reckons that there is plenty in with it backfreezing to compressor. Also not being able to switch off compressor could only point to faulty module. Will try once more when module arrives.

Bob, after visiting customer and unable to turn off compressor by turning to 0 unplugged fridge and restarted. Went into Defrost and has been working since Saturday. However yellow light is now flashing since monday. Fitted replacement replacement module and notice one of the electrolytic caps is a bit fat. Light had a serious mains flicker when started but passed module tests o.k. Will wait and see. Rang customer and appears to have finished defrost and compressor now whirring.

Was it a faulty module or did you get another call back?
