    Hi,

Went and had a look at one of these Bosch WVT12842GB/07 integrated washer/dryers yesterday (doesn’t look like a normal Bosch inside so I guess it’s a rebadge?) The machine had stopped during the cycle displaying ‘stop’. Water still in the drum.

I reset the machine and put it onto drain only, but it didn’t pump out. The pump didn’t sound like it was trying but I checked that there were no blockages anyway, then delved inside to confirm that no power was being applied to the drain pump.

I tried starting a new wash program to see if it would drain at the start of the program. Machine didn’t drain, went straight to fill. When the motor started up I was treated to a lightning storm coming from the back of the motor which I’m guessing is the brushes in need of replacement and unrelated to the drain problem.

Anybody got any ideas on this one?

    Thanks,
    Jon

I believe it is a Smeg made heap of junk. The motor brushes arcing badly would likely indicate not only the brushes need replacing but the armature itself may have cooked? And it could be related to the pump issue in some way so don’t rule anything out at this stage. Check pump wiring to the PCB and the PCB for surface damage.

Thanks for the advice Martin. Wiring was ok, but found some burning on the power control PCB after battling to get it out. Given the astronomical price of the PCB the customer decided to bin the machine.

    Cheers,
    Jon
