    Can anyone tell me how the tacho comes out on this motor. it is hel in place by a circular plate and I can only assume it is a push fit. Dont want to force anything.

    Three different motors used, Bosch, CESET and FHP. I am assuming that the small tacho magnet is loose.

    Never seen the Bosch one come loose but plenty of FHP ones and the odd CESET one.

    I have managed to get the metal plate out of the FHP one on a couple of occasions but it is very difficult and refitting it afterwards is not easy.

    If it is an FHP(AEG) motor then I dribble a tiny amount of loctite around the end of the shaft then gently tap the tacho magnet back down into position.

    Usually with great success if you leave it for a few hours. Take care not to overdo the loctite, don’t want it running into the motor bearing.

    thank you – I have managed to get it off however plate a bit bent. Would I be correct in saying the ohms are supposed to vary as you turn the shaft. I have a steady 85 ohms approx as I turn shaft.

    What type of motor is it, is the magnet loose on the splined shaft?
    It should be fixed rigidly to the end of the motor shaft.

    Resistance should rise and fall as motor is turned. TBH I have never seen the tacho coil fail on an FHP motor and I have seen thousands of them.

    That’s why I don’t try and remove the plate anymore, getting it back without damaging the magnet now that it is bent may be difficult.

    Its FHP motor – the magnet was still secure but having ran diagnostics I found no motor movement detected so had a look at tacho and resistance wasnt varying. Ive changed tacho coil now and resistance is varying as you turn. Ive yet to try on machine but stands to reason that this should solve it.

    Well I suppose there is a first for everything.

    You have removed and inspected the motor carbon brushes first I assume, worn brushes or breaks in the wiring to the motor plug are the main reasons for ‘no tacho’ when running diagnostics. 😉

    Hi yes brushes good and motor spins for a few seconds in diagnostic so I know the motor is capable of running.The new tacho coil definitely showing variations in resistance as opposed to the suspect one. Will fit in morning and see how machine performs.

    Unit tested with new tacho and will now cycle normally. However I cannot see motor going to full spin and full programme does not complete. Time to scrap this i think.
