ParticipantHi,
I have a Siemens WIQ1430 washing machine that is showing an “aquastop” error meaasge.
it originally started with “pump blocked” message, which i resolved by removing bra wires from the filter/pump. The following evening i again received the same message. I again checked the filter/pump but could not find any obstruction, ran a drain cycle with the filter removed and could clearly see the pump working.
This morning the machine has thrown up “aquastop” message, anyone any ideas as to what is casuing this? Help urgently required as machine is out of use in a house with 2 young kids.
Thanks in advance TonyFebruary 20, 2014 at 10:14 am #410037Martin

Check the base tray, it may be flooded with water spilled from the pump filter?

Hi Martin,
you were spot on, there was water in the bottom of the machine that hit the float mechanism and actuated the aquastop. Machine works but now throws up “pump blocked” messages. I have put the machine through a wash cycle but near the end it comes up with “pump blocked”. I can put the machine through a pump cycle that works fine and i have pumped directly into a bucket to check for external blockages. When the pump blocked message appears there is water in the filter/pump section.
Any ideas please 🙂February 21, 2014 at 8:17 am #410040Martin

There will always be water remaining in the pump filter as it is a gravity fed pump not a suction pump. It could be the drain is restricted (kinked) in some place? The outlet coupling restricted if connected to the sink? A 5p coin stuck in the hose acting like a flap valve? Or even a sock or hankie stuck in the sump hose? 💡

Martin,
All drain pipe work is clear of kinks and blockages and it drains ok on drain cycle, just not on a wash cycle. So i will check the sump hose and associated pipe work through to the pump. I also read this somewhere is it relevant?
There is a valve strainer Type valve attached to the bottom of some machines, I think some manufacturers put it there to hide it from you so that you have to call them to carry out the repair, my advice to you is call a repair engineer, but as you have already opened the machine you could try taking the valve of and giving it a good clean to clear off all the sticky residue that is causing it to stick, and or clean the straining valve, when you open it you will see what i mean, washers have a time limit to empty and if it is partly blocked it may empty some times and just register a problem other times be sure to disconnect the machine from the mains water and ELECTRIC and remember how you pulled It apart as reassembly will be the reverse procedure also check to see if you have a non return valve on the other side of the waste hose if so open it and clean. Thanks Tony

That refers to the ball valve an integral part of the sump hose, so yes it is relevant.

Martin,
Just to be clear then, i need to check the drain hose from the drum down to and through the pump?
I cant understand why it drains on drain cycle but not on a wash cycle?
Thanks

It’s referred to as a sump hose as it sits in the sump and, yes, goes to the pump. (Big black rubber thingy. :clown:

Could well be the warm water is causing the ball valve to stick? Or all the other possibilities I mentioned previously. Time to take a look I reckon. 😀

Martin,
You were spot on again, i have just retrieved a sock stuck in the sump sitting on the float valve under the drum. I have put the machine on a wash and i am confident that will cure the problem, if not i will be back on.
many thanks for you help and advice, spot on.
Regards
