ParticipantHi,
I have a Samsung Fridge Freezer – RSH7UNMH which does not make ice.
If I press the test button the ice maker goes through a cycle to dispense ice in to the tray but doesn’t refill with water.
The water dispenser is working normally.
Any ideas?

The water may be frozen in the feed pipe may be a feed pipe heater faulty.
Or it may be the water solinoid faulty.
Disconnect the white water feed to the ice maker feed pipe at the back of the appliance.
If you then put the end in a bucket or washing up bowl then press the test button if the water comes out of the white pipe you will know it is the feed pipe in the freezer blocked with ice.
You could also phone Samsung to see if they will cover a free call out as it is not very old and it may be a ice maker or PCB fault.Bob

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the response.
There has been a development. When I press the Test button, the icemaker goes through a cycle and the tray fills with water. The icemaker then makes one tray of ice but then stops.
When I looked at it the other day the prongs which rotate to eject the ice seem to stop at odd positions, as in they do not return to their “starting position”.
I just called Samsung, they are not interested as its out of warranty. They have suggested I call their service centre. No help there then.
Any further thoughts based on the above?

It sounds like it may be the Icemaker it self causing a problem.
The trouble is on this model sometimes you have to get a freezer door as well.
I would contact a local engineer you can try the search on this site.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Why does it sometimes require a whole door?

Hi Bob,
I have just watched a test cycle, the little prongs rotate through 360 degrees but the arm that senses the ice in the bucket didn’t drop. When I touched the arm it was stiff and clicked.
The prongs then did another rotation and this time the arm dropped, when back up and water was dispensed in to the tray. I’ll see what happens next but it seems like the ice sensor arm is sticking.
