My Hotpoint FF187MP (white) bought in 2007 has a split seal on the freeer door. As far as I can tell this is causing no problems, but common sense tells me to replace the seal before it turns into a problem.

Is replacing the seal as simple as this video shows? Or is it likely to be much harder?

If it is the push on type then it is just as the video shows.

It is not as easy as it looks as you have to make sure it is pushed in fully or it will keep pulling off when you open and close the door.

What it does not show is the seal will be crushed flat in the packaging and will not seal correctly.

To get it to seal you have to warm the seal up to make it more flexible to seal otherwise the freezer will frost up with Snow / ice.

The best way to warm it is when it is fitted warm it all around with a wallpaper steamer.

If a steamer is not available then a hair dryer will do but make sure you keep it moving around the seal so you do not melt he seal.

In the Video the seal would not seal as it is thinner due to being crushed flat and would have to be warmed up.

Check your model has the push in type as some seals are part of the door and require a new door.

Silly question time, but how do I know if my model has a push in type seal? If photos will help, what and where do you need photos of?

Just pull the door seal near the corner to see if it will come off as in the video.

If it does then push it back on until you get a new seal.
