    Hi

We have a SMEG A1 oven and the fast burner ignites runs for about 2 – 5 mins and then cust out – everytime.

Any ideas what causing this and how to rectify it?

    Thanks

Nice easy one, the thermocouple is either faulty or covered in grease.

Try cleaning it first, if that doesn’t work, you’ll need a Corgi reistered engineer to attend and replace the thermocouple.

You may find one in repairs@ or the directories if required.

    Dave.

Brilliant thanks – any idea what the cost is likely to be if it is faulty?

The thermocouple is about £10, labour rates can cary quite a bit, generally for a gas engineer I would say between £60 and £80 for the service call.

    Hi
As Dave said thermocouple or grease, more likely thermocouple.
Dont be fobbed off as in another post; customer reported engineer tweaking bypass on gas tap, make sure they change FSD for new type (twin lead, one to tap one to earth)

    Regards

    Hi
Its situated next to ignitor and is slim and bullet shaped.
Please take Dave’s advice and get a corgi registered installer; check repairs@ for your nearest engineer.

    Regards

    Greg
