The machine had water remaining at the bottom after a cycle, and it would not start a new programme. After emptying the water and cleaning the filter it still wouldn’t start.
In DIY attempt I pushed the door catch at the top of the machine which clicked. Now the door won’t ‘catch’ closed (i.e. the door closes but isn’t locking into place) and it won’t start.Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!March 11, 2014 at 8:49 am #410841electrofix

you now have 2 faults
fault 1 (the original one) your pump is probably blocked with glass or chicken bone or the like
fault 2 the door lock is now in the closed position. I use a wire coat hanger cut off about 6 inches of the metal. put a full loop on one end ( to stop injury) and bend the last half inch of the other end at 90 degrees. you can now hook this into the lock and pull it forward to the open position

Hi Dave, Thanks for your suggestions. I have done as you said with the coat hanger and the lock is now in the right place (thanks!!) but …
there is another latch which appears to be the one which gets push back by the door closing and releases the lock latch to hold the door closed. This doesn’t seem to be in the correct place because the door still won’t close.
Any further suggestions? Thanks for your help!

dont know about another latch but if the door closes with a push but then springs open it is normally the hinges that have been strained and bent

When you open the door does it go down further than 90 degrees ?

Hi Anday, no it doesn’t go beyond 90 degrees.
When the door closes the latch is not coming down to keep the door shut and initiate the machine to start….
Thanks for any advice!

this looks to be one of the later ones where the catch is in the lid
you can go to
http://www.siemens-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/search
put your Enr in and get a parts breakdown of the unit
think the part you are interested is item 0332 on page 3
this item may not be broken just need releasing

Hi Dave,
yes that seems to be the part – any idea on how to ‘release’ it?
Thanks!
