    Hi there

I would be really grateful for some advice on a leak from my mum’s Bosch WVF2402GB/02. I have stripped it down and the water is coming from the drum were it joins the plastic moulding from the joint band (see attached picture) at the front which I suspect is something to do with the dryer (the door seal joins this). There is a band that joins the two parts together and from the parts list I can see a gasket/seal. I just wondered if anybody has come across this before and whether or not it is a relatively simple to repair.

    Many thanks

    Tim

Common failing, the black rubber gasket perishes and shrinks. In extreme cases the front concrete counterweight cracks and falls off. Very poor design overall and a challenge to take apart and refit with a new tub gasket…..have fun! 😀

    Hi Martin

Many thanks for the prompt reply – will order the parts and give it a go!

PS Any idea how old this machine is (my mum can’t remember)?

Tell what the 4 digit FD number is on the inside of the door (FD = Fabrication Date) 😀

Will have a look when I am next at my mums and post the details. I have ordered the rubber seal – any tips for making the job easier? I suspect it might be easier to rest the machine on its back to split the drum and replace the seal?

    Thanks

Yes lie it on its back is the way to do it. 😀

    Hi

The parts arrived the other day and have managed to fit both the seal and a new metal band as the old one was rusty. I cleaned up the all the surfaces and put it all back together and ran a cycle but there still seems to be a very small drip coming from the band. I took the front off again today and tweaked up the tension on the band even more so perhaps that will cure it. If this doesn’t work the only other option would be to dismantle it and run a small bead of sealant round the surfaces and refit the seal but it shouldn’t really need it…..

PS It was a nightmare job!
