    Hi,
I’ve been out to a customers condenser dryer today, IDCE845A. The drum wasn’t turning. Drum jammed up and belt broken. New 1991 belt fitted not a problem. The strange thing was that the machine doesn’t have the usual heater and stats on the back panel. The panel is there but nothing is inside. It looks as though they are using a new type of heater that looks just like a fridge compressor that is fitted where the fan blades used to be in from of the motor.
Has anybody come across this model yet. Just out of guarantee according to the customer.
Also it took ages to get up to temperature. Thought it wasn’t heating at first.
Just wondering how this new heater works, where the toc’s are?

    Thanks

    Nick

That explains everything. Joy oh joy. No more heater or stat changes then. Looks more like a glorified dehumidifier. Lets hope this doesn’t catch on but if its nearly 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more efficient than the traditional system, I can see this being on most machines in the next 5 years.

50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more efficient on power but takes a lot longer to dry hence belts and bearings going more often. As they say up here ‘you dont get owt for nowt’ but hey-ho more repairs for us.
