ParticipantHi there i have a hotpoint tdc980, which has a message scrolling across the screen saying “clean heat pump filter”.
I have looked through the manual which at no point references to a heat pump filter and also cannot find the info via google either.
I have cleaned the condensor unit/filter out and the lint filter. I would just really like someone to tell me what a heat pump filter is and where this may be located. Is it anything to do with a small box like plastic thing that stick out the rear bottom right hand side of dryer where 2 tubes go into? Or something else.
Pls help as i really dont know what it is ( i am prob just being really thick 😕 , thank you 🙂March 14, 2014 at 3:45 pm #411159don

Hi
Can you recheck the model number please as there is no reference to TDC980 on Google or Hotpoint database.

Nothing listed on Hotpoint parts explosion, so I guess it refers to the lint filter at the front which you have already checked.
If both the filter and condenser are both clear then it could possibly be
fluff build up elsewhere in the dryer which the board thinks it’s the filter and throwing up the error message.Probably best to call a local engineer to have a look.

Very strange, the TCD980 is a conventional condenser dryer, it is not the later ‘heat pump’ type, it does not have a heat pump.
Does the screen message actually say heat pump or just clean filters?
Can you give us all the numbers from the small sticker inside the door?

The message that scrolls across the screen is clean heat pump filter.
I also think it strange as it doesnt list that display option anywhere
in the manual.
The only other thing i was thinking could it poss be relating to maybe the water pump instead? Not sure if that cud poss have a filter somewhere?
I will find the number inside the door 2moro morning

To answer your question it does mean clean the condenser. Oddly enough it does state (on page 8 of the user instructions) that the message that scrolls on the LCD display should read : CLEAN CONDENSER. Condenser and Heat Pump Filter are one of the same. A further odd fact is that the only range of condenser dryers Hotpoint make are from the Aqualtis range and on those models they don’t have a scrolling LCD warning but instead just a flashing light above and Icon of a Heat Pump Filter. 🙁
The wonderful world on Indesit never ceases to surprise and amaze us. :rolls:

Thanks for clearing that up for me Martin, i can stop worrying what is wrong with my machine now.
I think hotpoint could make sure that what appears on the LCD is the same as this list in the manual to avoid undo worry or cost of calling an engineer -
