KeymasterHI,
I have a 4 years old samsung fridge freezer, frost free. It is a SR-LR36 or 39 (not sure about this). It has a digital display and no water supply.
A few days ago it started beeping and the temperature display of the freezer started looping between -17 and -24. And it beeps at the same time.Does anybody ever had this king of issue? It is a pain as it seems that it is working fine but for the beeping.
To sort this out we tend to turn it down for an hour or so and switch it on again. It works fine for a day and then the beeping starts again.
We can go through the Expert Appliance care but it will certainly cost at least £100 to sort this out – a quarter of what we paid for it and a third of a new one.
Any ideas are welcome

Andre, there’s certainly a problem there that needs attending by an engineer.
Try the repairs@ module and the directories as there’s a lot of Independant guys here who should be able to help, not quite in that price range either 😉
Dave.

There could be a problem of this fault if one the doors has been left open accidently.
switch the appliance off for 24 hrs with the doors left open and then restart the appliance as normal, this will mean that you will have to find another place to store the freezer food though whilst you are doing this, dont refill your freezer for 24 hrs after you restart it to make sure the temrature has stabalised. If the temprature doesnt then stabalise then sorry its a engineer call.
hope this helps

Dave, Brian,
Thanks for your answers.
Brian,
I don’t think the door was left open as there is an alarm that beeps if we left the doors open.
But I will try anyway to switch it off for a day.Dave,
I checked with local companies that fix fridge/freezeer but quite a few don’t do samsung as they have trouble finding spare parts.
I did not find any companies with your search engine I think that I should extend the search to postcode nearby. Thanks for you help
Andre

To me this sounds like the fridge door has dropped causing the light to stay on when the door is closed, the fan wont turn on thus cooling problems in the freezer or run all the time, and the beeping from the door seemingly being “open” when in fact its shut. pop a couple of washers under the middle hinge then put door back on hinge this will raise the door. Stop the alarm and cure the freezer problem.
15 minute job if that is what the problem is so not £100 fix.

Re Weirdjams answer. Can’t be that or the alarm would be sounding ALL the time. It is only actually sounding whilst the fridge is in defrost mode. I think, because it has to get so warm (outside of its preset temperature envelope) whilst trying to defrost (I presume it is a frost free one) the “too warm” alarm is sounding. Just what My Miele is suffering from. I am hoping mine too is due to excessive ice in the cooler matrix at the back (yes I left the door open!!!), so to try to melt it makes the fridge too warm. Maybe leaving the door open for 24 hrs will cure mine….Hmmm food for thought

The door dropped could lead to intermittant alarm noises. But then this is only an assumption. But for the sake of a few washers its worth a try. I personally have seen this a few times before.

Help! I have a Samsung SR61 Cool Tech Plus Fridge/Freezer (Bottom/Top) with electronic controls and a ‘frequent-open’ small door in the fridge door. The Temperature warning signal (a very irritating electronic rendition of “Oh Susanna”) is sounding constantly but the temperatures in both fridge and freezer seem fine (trying to get a thermometer to check).
Occasionally the light in the fridge is staying on and sometimes it stays off when the big fridge door is opened. The bulb isn’t at fault as the switch on the small door operates the same light.
There are no nearby heat sources and a good 2-3 inch gap all round.
The ambient temperature in the room is higher than usual just now at around 24C.
The electronic controls seem to be working fine (we normally have them set at their ‘warmest’ setting).
This morning, around 3:00AM, the warning stopped and only when I opened the fridge and freezer doors to check the temperatures around 12:00 did it start up again.
Does this sound like an engineer job ?StephenJB

Fridge Update: A new thermometer confirms the fridge is broken. Temp. is a constant 12C and fridge controls have no effect. The freezer is fine so the urgent requirement just now is how to temporarily switch off the Temperature Alarm ?
Any suggestions ?StephenBurden

Sorted. Turned out to be a faulty fridge door switch. A break in the switch caused the fridge to ‘think’ the main door was open and therefore overcompensated with the cooling.
Never found out how to switch off the alarm though ! -
