I had a huge argument last week with a customer re something similar, turned up pulled out machine. Just got it out enough to see the cable dispersing behind the unit next to it. Checked inside no socket. Turned out the socket was on the wall and the unit had been installed in front I it. It then became my fault as I could not unplug it.

    These people are unbelievable.

Aha, that sounds familiar, it becomes our fault due to the ineptitude of the builder/installer/kitchen fitters. I used to carry equipment to cut out the offending sections and inform the customer of everything including extra charge to non appliance work, also to inform the customer to claim the extra cost from whom ever fitted the units. Oh the kitchen guys loved me they did, dont know why…………… 🙂 🙂 🙂
