ParticipantHi all
I’m hopping for some advice. I have the machine mentioned above, and its tripping out the rcd when turned on. I have replaced the heating element, but still seem to have the same problem. The element did look to be in a bad way, but no joy. The pcb seems to have some damage to it near a coil on the board. Smoke blacken slightly. Not sure if this is related. Any pointers on what to check next would be much appreciated. I have a multimeter so can take simple measurements, just not sure what to test.
Any advice, or anyone that has cured a similar problem. Please let me know. Thanks.March 21, 2014 at 3:47 pm #411446Andy jones

If it’s blowing trip it needs testing with a 500v insulation tester. You could visually check mains suppressor but still get it tested properly

Hi Andy.
Is insulation testing likley to track down the faulty component or is more for saftey (obviously also an important point). I have visually checked all the accessable cabeling and found no problems.
Where would I find the suppressor and what would a damaged one look like. Thanks

Insulation tester will find the earth fault that you have

That’s great news.
I have booked a guy to pop over from the local white goods supplier to take a look. He has been forewarned and will bring his pat testing gear :).
I think the element was definatley at fault. I suspect it has taken something on the pcb with it though. 🙁I will get the engineer to take a look and hopefully diagnose the fault. Then if it is the pcb I might be able to replace the faulty component and get the machine going again.
If it’s the pcb that’s gone, and I can’t fix it, it could be time for a replacment machine. Currently the pcb’s from Bosch are about £100. Plus the price of a new element, £40, plus the price of an engineer, this is begining to look expensive.
Any idea’s on other faults that could cause this ?
Thanks
Rob.

Seems it might be the PCB :(. Had the man round with his posh test equipment and it failed the insulation test.
