Can anyone help with the following problem?

I have a 10 year old Hotpoint dual fuel 6556 cooker. The fan in the main oven decided to stop working the other day, and even with a bit of help it refused to move. I decided that the obvious problem was that the motor had siezed up. I ordered a new one, and fitted it tonight. Although it started up, it soon stopped and appeared to sieze up like the old one did. 😕

    Thanks

    Steve

    Re: Hotpoint 6556 fan problem

Apart from the actual fan blade itself there’s nothing external to the motor that can restrict the rotation Steve.

If all’s well there then the motor is either faulty/damaged or fitted incorrectly.

Take it off and have a good look for obvious things, then check the motor rotates freely when removed.

It may be something daft, you never know 😉

    Dave.

Thanks for the prompt reply, after taking the motor out, and checking it was free running, I mounted it again, and it’s now working OK. It was somehow jamming against something, but I haven’t worked out what.
At least we can now cook the Saturday night curry 😀

    Cheers

A squirt of 3 in 1 oil on the phosphor/bronze bearings each end of the rotor will help

Curry cooked in the oven??? Try using a pan on the gas hob next time :lesson:

Maybe it was the ‘vindaloo effect’ that stopped the fan after all :rotl:
