ParticipantHi all , its now the turn of the dishwasher to play up ! Its loosing in water and pumping out at the same time and so not continuing to wash, so on to the inspection thinking a sticky pressure switch or dirty blocked pipe to find all pipes clear and it doesn’t have a pressure switch as such from what I can work out .
From the inlet solenoid its then piped up to a encased wheel that spins with the water current flowing through it and im thinking this little gizmo is responsible for letting it know how much water is in ? So I removed this component and blew through it and indeed it spun smoothly so I reconnected everything to see if it was the culprit but unfortunately not well sort of
Now it is filling correctly without pumping out at the same time and to the correct water level but will not carry on and on other occasions will? Continuity has been done on the loom and all is good in both the open and closed positions on the door ?
Can anybody confirm that this doesn’t have a pressure switch and any thought are welcome
thanks b3

no it does not have a pressure switch in common with a lot of appliances these days. the water is counted in by pulses from that unit.
if pulse unit is faulty and computer senses a problem it will end progamme to stop floodingDave

In the dishwasher its a 5uf 240v cap and only have and 8uf to hand … Maplin are out till Monday so would this be safe to just try it out? The cap is known to be working from my spare working tumble dryer.

you now come back to possibly your original problem if unit does not think it is full of water it will abort programme by pumping out and not start the wash pump

How do you know its filling or not filling to correct level, its a counter that counts pulses for every litre or part there-of. If it is a little short of pulses in the allocated time, it aborts programme without starting the circulation pump.

Thanks for the reply … im referring to the level we see often when the door has been opened during a wash … I know its only a guestimate but I definitely noticed the water level was low when the problem first arose , after a clear out of all the pipework/filters the level was as normal it just didn’t go into the wash after filling which lead me onto the cap and so on.
Today I’ve checked the loom and all checked out (continuity) , removed the water sensor wheel and connected a LED and 1.5v battery with a couple of wires to find the wheel makes a contact every 90 degrees of rotation .. if this checks out with you professionals im lost where to go next ?
Maybe low water pressure not spinning the wheel at any constant level for a fixed duration of time , or maybe disconnect the water wheel and see if it errors or overfills or see if it fills to same level without it fitted (Timed out) then obviously it need replacing
P.S.
Need to get it fixed soon as the missus is doing all the washing up because my hands are covered in plasters from the cuts !April 4, 2014 at 8:16 am #411972Seamy

From experience of them found to be problematic with filling. Most problems have been loom breakage from flowmeter to p.c.b. Some have had to have to have flowmeter replaced & some problems with loom at overflow float switch, few circulation pump motor or P.C.B for this type of problem.

Where is the overflow float switch located ? And I just did a test with the flow meter removed and it still filled to the same level … so think ill order one … maybe on to something?
Seamy, martin, electro thanks for your time and support and ill post back
