    Good morning all,

Does anyone know much about the transmission on the above top-loading washer?

The drum will not turn, and there is a nasty sound from the clutch/transmission area.

I have little experience on this type of m/c fault, and don’t know if I need to refer customer to manufacturer for this problem.

    Kind regards,

    jonty

There is a three piece coupling between the motor and gear box which is prone to failure and is probably the cause of your noise – an easy part to change. You would need to remove the gearbox to turn the drum from the bottom end before you could say that it was stuck as it has a brake mechanism just after the clutch (it gets released by the clutch).

Just in case you hadn’t realised, during wash the agitator moves back and forth and the drum stays still, during drain neither should move and during spin the drum rotates and the agitator is free to do what it likes (usually spins with it).

Draw a line on the clutch to make it easier to see if it is turning.

    Hello Jem,

    Thank you for your feedback.

Do you possibly have a drawing of the above machine’s gearbox and clutch assemblies, or know where I can obtain one?

    Happy Easter,

    jonty
