my indesit wia101 started making a banging noise and had smoke coming from the drum i have checked the mounts and they seem fine it also had a smell of burning rubber none of the hoses are fouling on the casing

sound like the drum spider has failed if so new machine
the drum spider is the carrier for the drum inside the machine. it has 3 legs and i would bet one of yours has corroded and snapped. the end result is when machine spins the inner drum catches the rubber round the door causing noise and smell
