After completing a cycle (including allowing enough time for the drying sector to finish and the final pumping out to complete) the dishwasher still has an inch or so of dirty water in the bottom. I’ve checked the outlet pipe, which has no blockages, and have run the program again several times with the same result. Everything else seems to be working normally. How can I check to see if the pump is functioning correctly? Any advice/suggestions gratefully received! Thanks, David.

Inch of water across the floor of the machine, or inch of water left in the hole where the filter sits?

Across the floor of the machine. Since posting, I’ve found one of the FAQ videos on the BSH applicance care site, which showed how to get at the impeller to check for obstructions. I’ve done all that and reassembled, it’s just going through a short cycle at the moment to check to see if it has helped. I couldn’t see any obstruction, and the impeller moved reasonably freely. Not having tried to move one before, I wasn’t sure how it should move – it cetainly didn’t spin, some pressure was needed and it moved a quarter of a turn at a time. DC

Wash cycle has finished, display set to O. Some water has clearly been pumped out as the outlet pipe is warm at the discharge end. However, there is water left in the bottom of the machine as before. 😥 What do I try next, please?

PS This site is such a brilliant idea – thanks!

Probably your dishwasher shares the same drain coupling as your sink, and likely that joint coupling is blocked or restricted in some way 🙁

Checked it – all running freely from both the sink and the half-sink all the way to the outside drain. Both u-bends are clear. Anything else I could try?

(I now have a huuuuuge pile of washing up to do unless I can fix it before bedtime!! 🙁 )

    David,
If you are sure that the pump chamber and sink coupling are both clear, the only thing left is the fill/empty matrix on the left hand side of the machine. As this is located under the side panel I cannot honestly recommend that you try and strip it.

Maybe time for an engineer. If you’re going to have a look, pull the plug first :plug: .

It’s got to be a blockage somewhere, either that or the pump is failing, can you hear it running the whole time it should be draining ?

    Re: siemens se26230gb/07 not emptying

The pump does appear to sound a bit different, perhaps as if it’s trying to turn but can’t quite do it. However we usually run the d/w on a timer at night to take advantage of E7, so I don’t hear it often!

I think I might take the optimists way and leave it until after the weekend – we’re away all day tomorrow and out for lunch on Sunday, so not much w/u to do in the meantime. If it’s still not behaving on Monday, I’ll call out an engineer. We’re new to this area, so I’ll ask around at Church on Sunday.

Thanks so much for your help.

    Kind regards.

Good plan, word of mouth is always the best way of getting good service 😀

If you get stuck, try repairs@ and the directories here as well.

    Dave.
