    I have a Hotpoint WML940.
It completed the wash phase but failed to drain when it started to spin.
Diagnosed a blocked filter. Drained excess water and removed washing.
Tried to unscrew filter but jammed, so I tilted machine back 45 degrees and removed whole filter/impeller unit. Removed offending items from filter/impeller (Two Hair grips, a coin and a piece of elastic wrapped round impeller!) reassembled, put back on it’s feet and ran a pump out cycle. Low and behold it pumped out. Put wet washing back in machine and ran a spin only cycle again span ok and drained/pumped out ok.
Problem solved … BUT when I tried a wash cycle no water filling!
tried a rinse cycle and again not filling.

What have I done to stop it filling? Did tipping it back 45 degrees upset the pressure sensor?

    1. It is recommended that the appliance is not tilted > 45° to gain access to the underneath of the appliance if water is present in the drum as this may also effect the water level readings.
    2. If after any repair to the appliance the machine has been tilted >45° i.e. Tank change – pump/sump hose inspection -Pressure switch hose disconnection, or the Pressure switch has been replaced the Pressure switch must be re-set to zero level.
    3. To achieve a Zero level reading on the pressure switch manually drain all water from the appliance via the drain hose by lowering it into a suitable receptacle, disconnect and re-connect the pressure switch hose, this will allow the switch to zero calibrate.

    To test the appliance:
    Switch machine on.
Open door and fill the drum with approximately 1 Litre of water.
    Close door.
Set appliance to drain then start appliance, pump will then drain the water out. Pressure switch & Module now re-calibrated to zero.

Re: Machine not filling after fixing not emptying

    Thanks for the help.
    Followed instructions pumped out fine.
But still doesn’t fill on wash or rinse cycle.
suspect it may be valves and only coincidental they fail at the same time?
This model has only a cold water feed and a dual inlet valve i assume one is to direct water to soap dispenser and the other is direct to drum for rinsing is it likely that both would fail? Any suggestions before I go and buy replacement valves.

Check both valves for resistance/continuity first. Unlikely for both valves to fail, still likely to be connected to tipping it back.

Did you remove the small hose from the pressure switch as per those instructions? Also worth checking all connections to the main pcb top make sure none have been disturbed.

I had a simular fault where the water hadn’t been switched on when the customer moved house.

No amount of trying to clear it would work and eventually the customer had to get Hotpoint out to re flash the board.

Hmm, come to think of it I seem to remember johnnyj who is an Indesit franchise engineer mentioning that occasionally a reset of the eeprom is the only cure. :rolls:

Drained the water using the rear hose and the front filter drain, Removed the pipe from the sensor reattached the pipe. Turned machine on put a jug of water in the drum and closed the door, selected pump out and start, pumped out fine. tried a wash cycle and no water enters detergent tray.
Tried a Rinse cycle and still no water. had some wet towels so tried a spin cycle and this works fine water pumps out and cycle completes as normal.

any way of checking if pressure sensor is working?

How do I reset the Eprom or is this one for an engineer?

The consensus to that question would conclude the latter is your best course of action. Not cheap though. 🙁

Yep seen it a few times. You remove the blockage but it just wont reset. Only way I seen is to reprogram the module unfortunately.
