ParticipantI recall some hotpoints leaking due to a fault on the soap dispenser top.
Would anyone know if this is one of the effected models ?

Depends, if it has the swing out to the side drawer then a new dispenser assy is required.
If it has the pull out straight drawer then a good clean, a slight adjustment of the feet to give a very small backward tilt and turning the water pressure down is usually all that is needed. A blocked sump filter will also cause drawer leaks.

But you haven’t added that the crappy, Indesit made drawers are known to leak on certain Hotpoint machines and have had a design change to cure it. 😉

Dunno about that or what the issue is with those in particular.
What I do know is that the problem isn’t uncommon, isn’t brand specific, can have more than a single cause and is often misdiagnosed for most I have had the “pleasure” to have to look at. 😉
The reason I think it gets missed is that being engineers there to repair the machine the automatic thing is to assume that there is a fault, a mechanical reason when there often isn’t. It’s a use issue.
Then you usually get the “replace the soap box” knee-jerk reaction to this particular phenomena and when that doesn’t cure it then tech gets a call to try to explain the unexplainable.
As I said to someone recently, a soap box is a bit of plastic that will either be distorted or physically damaged in some manner and that’s obvious usually or blocked up. There’s really not much else to go wrong with them these days as we no longer have mechanical arms and stuff on them.
I am of course not saying that’s the reason at all, I’m merely providing some food for thought because I had a few minutes to reply.

Main reason I’ve found is sump blockage tbh

The ‘teaching nanny effect’ from our Ken on this one, but as Jim adds, it’s an Indesit and that’s all you need to know. But, being as I’m battle hardened to leaking dispensers for decades my diagnosis on a leaky dispenser is simple. If it didn’t leak before and does now then replace the friggin’ thing.. Life’s too short to fuff around seeking alternatives scenarios. 😉

Not trying to nanny at all Martin, just trying to show that there can be other causes and, if you don’t want to consider that there could be for this or anything else that’s just fine by me.
I have seen a number of them changed though and it didn’t solve the problem, that means a recall. Not on Indesit specifically I will add and I’m not familiar with them at all really, you guys know more about them than I do for sure.

I appreciate where you’re coming from Ken, but allan73 was asking specifics after all said and done. I wouldn’t wish to patronise him by suggesting that there are other reasons for dispenser leaks. I’m sure he is all too aware and his question after all left us in no doubt that that was the problem. Hence my more down to earth reply ” replace the friggin’ thing ” and, as you would say Ken… End of.

The pull out draw is nice and clean, as is the sump.
I’ve already dropped the front legs slightly and lowered the water pressure a little so I guess I’ll need to go back and take another look.Allan

You need to raise the front legs, not lower them.
I have never replaced the Hotpoint old style, pull out dispenser for leaks but have done many of the later, swing out, Indesit style dispensers, cured every single one with not a single call back.April 16, 2014 at 6:53 pm #412479allan73

When I say lower, I mean lower the feet to raise the machine slightly at the front.

Sorry Martin, I don’t understand.
I was working on the presumption that the obvious had been eliminated leading to the question here which is perfectly reasonable.
I wasn’t attempting to be patronising at all, I merely pointed to an article and offered a set of possible causes for the problem based on my experience of such. I can’t understand how that was in any way patronising as the intent was to inform and give the OP some background on what can cause these types of issues and that is on occasion not considered when you’re looking for a mechanical reason for the issue.
If that caused you personal offence then, sorry. Ill try not to upset your delicate sensibilities in future eh? Or, perhaps say it with roses or something, dress it up in a bow or suchlike.
Now that last paragraph, that was patronising. 😉

I also have changed Hotpoint dispensers due to leaking Iadom, hence my post. I now recall they were the swing out style units.
