ParticipantHi,
I need to replace one of the dryer thermostats on my machine as one of the connector tabs has snapped off. I am having trouble identifying the correct part on various spares websites and want to be sure that I order correctly.
The broken one is on the LEFT, has a yellow spot on it and “347” stamped of its edge. (For comparison, the unbroken one on the RIGHT appears to be identical except it has a red spot and has “346” stamped on.)
Both have the following written on their upper sides “Type 261 VDE 10(3)250 ~ T220K ELTH”.
My machine is a Hoover W2120 “new wave plus 5” washer-dryer from c1997.
Any ideas where I can get one from? Thanks.

Thanks.
Although it is saying that they are for a W2120, they look to be completely the wrong shape to fit my machine. My thermostats fit into round holes in the dryer element housing, whereas the ones on the Partmaster site are flat and rectangular. Do you think that they have used the wrong photograph or are they wrong about these being the correct parts for a W2120?

Two possibilities that I have found are :
http://www.hooverspares.co.uk/product/9 … THERMOSTAT
which is identical to my broken part but has a blue spot.http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/tum … 133295.htm
has a yellow spot, looks similar, but the numbers written on the top are different to my part.Neither site says they are compatible with a W2120 though.
Do the coloured spots signify anything like temperature ratings? I understand that this is the case for Hotpoint dryers but I can only find “blue spot” thermostats for Hoover machines. My machine has yellow and red spots and that is what is confusing me. Can I replace my broken yellow spot thermostat with a blue spot part???

The ones I gave a link to ARE the correct ones.

Martin,
are you saying that Partmaster have put the wrong photograph on their website? The thermostats that you gave a link to look nothing like my broken part and I can’t see how they would fit my machine.
Thanks.

The photo is correct, the parts correct. It’s a necessary modification Hoover recognised yonks ago….OK?

Thanks. That’s interesting. So the new rectangular thermostats just lay flat over the round holes in the heater housing then? Do you know why Hoover decided to change the design?
