ParticipantHi,
I have a NEFF dishwasher model is either S5456, S5553 or S5453 according to the “Instructions for Use”.
It has been playing up by not starting immediately for a few days and presents with just two dashes in the top of the digital number display( number of minutes program will run for). It has also been getting smelly quickly despite being run on a hottest wash cycle once in an attempt to blitz it clean and then with a dishwasher cleaner thingy.
Now it won’t start at all, I’ve cleaned all the filters shown in the Instructions for Use manual but nothing.
It is approximately 10 years old. Does it sound like this is this a common and easily rectified problem or is it something more serious such that I shouldn’t bother with a repair and go straight to replacement due to age of the machine.
I also can’t find the exact dimensions of the machine to price up a replacement. I know what I measure it as but often these things aren’t that straightforward particularly as it is a built in machine, I really need to know I’m ordering something exactly compatible with the space and cupboard door that fits on the front.
Any assistance appreciated, thanks.

The full model number is necessary to give us. It is located etched into the stainless steel door adjacent the door catch.
If you go to the extreme of replacing the machine then any replacement Neff model will fit in its place.
Let’s start with the model number (ENR no) first though eh? 😀

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
After much searching I have identified that it is a S5453 and the E-Nr is S5453XOGB/17 (also says ED8101 560014)
Hope this helps

Try running the ‘reset’ procedure. (With the master switch ON, press and hold both the Intensive and the Eco buttons for 3 secs then shut the door) The machine should drain for 60 secs the stop and the indicator return to 0 (zero). If it doesn’t do that then the control unit itself is a fault (costly fix) 🙁
HTH?

Thanks
Will try this as soon as I get home this evening.
If this doesn’t solve the problem, then I’m thinking if it’s costly that I may not bother with a repair given the age of the machine but my Dad reckons NEFF is a good brand and worth repairing.
Decisions, decisions…….
Do you know where I can find the manufacturer’s specific dimensions of the machine so I can price up a replacement ?
Is 10 years a good innings for a dishwasher run every 2 days ?

Just go to the Neff website and look up the model number (Full ENr no) for the installation instructions/dimensions specific to that model etc etc

Weeell I never.
How did I not previously spot the re-set marking arrow link pointing to those 2 buttons ?
I did as suggested and it seemed to pump out and then launched into an eco cycle as it would only register one lit up button at a time even though 2 were being pressed down.
I’ve quickly opened it and stacked a sinks worth of washing up plus a tablet in it and will check up on it frequently whilst it works through the program. It’s still quite smelly but I’ll see if that improves now.
Thanks
