We get the. Scrap man in when we have about 10 to 15 scrap machines
But don’t get any money for them,
What’s their value should we be selling them, I don’t wont to have to take them anywhere but collected.

You’ll have to take them yourself to the scrap to realise any value. Anyone that collects will just give you a bag of goldfish and little else.

Waste carrier licence = £150, take 16 scrap machines at £8 each and you will just make profit, but the licence lasts for 3 years.
At the moment scrap machines are worth £8 each. 10 years old plus are heavier thus worth more, newer machines worth around £5.
So it is worth taking it to the scrap yard.

New lower tier waste carrier/broker/dealer licence is free from the environment agency.
You only transport your own business waste, unless it is construction etc
and this lasts indefinitelyI have had mine since January when they where introduced.
I get about £6.00 to £8.00 per machine and the scrap dealer is around the corner.

As the law stands, as long as you have a purchase receipt or part exchange receipt to prove you own the goods you intend to scrap then it belongs to your business.

That then is a contradiction in terms. How suddenly by taking THEIR waste does it suddenly become YOURS? Unless you can prove you own it you can be liable to a £5000 fine. You can’t say “…….the bloke on the phone told me it’s mine because Mrs Smith, Mrs Jones and old Mr Brown agreed I should get rid of the machines for them”

I noticed that if you start the application process on the Gov website, that even if you say the waste is from other businesses, organisations and households, but you say you are taking it as part of another service or trade (eg plumber), etc, you are still directed to the lower tier “free” licence.
So no clever tactics are required to avoid the charge! It seems that it’s only if you are collecting waste as a service in its own right that you have to pay for a licence.

My machines are recycled by the company who deliver the new ones for me. However,if no objection from the customer, I do remove the motor, £500 a tonne, the last time I looked, and the mains lead. Those motors soon add up,and the cables for that matter. 😀

Minimum average hpt wm motor weighs 3.8kg thats one of lightest. Its about 220motors to the ton. I took 230 motors and three tesco baskets of pumps in without the plastic on. Bought a Mercedes c200 2ltr petrol with an lpg gas fitted . £30 worh 340.370 miles.

Do I read this correctly : You went to a scrap yard with 3 Tesco shopping trolleys and 230 duff motors and came out with an old Mercedes and a gas bottle?…. Huh???
