Today my 7 year old dishwasher decided to go on strike.
It works for about 10 minutes then the “Check water” light turns on.

    I checked the following:
    1. Inlet connection – OK. The dishwasher definitely takes water in as when I opened the door there was a lot of water. Then I removed water, turned it on and water was present again.
    2. Outlet connection – OK. The pipe and kitched pipework are clear and water is flowing well through it.
    3. Pump blockade – OK. Removed filter and removed the hex screw on pump entry. Everything is clear and pump can be rotated by hand (feels spongy though).

If I shake the device then the light goes off, the machine works for about 10 minutes then the light is present again. Strangely enough, on a couple of occasions the machine did NOT stop when I opened the door and pump continued to bubble for another minute or so, which is worrying.

Any idea on what might possibly cause the problem? I know that the machine is now 7 years old but I though that Bosch should last for longer than that?

    Many thanks for your help!

on this unit there is a little component called an “impellor jug” bosch part no 424099

this unit count the water into the dishwasher and if it fails unit starts but if the count is not there the unit aborts the prog to stop flooding

    its a common fault

Thank you very mich for reply 🙂

Is this normal that the dishwasher will ignore open door and carry on spinning the pump for a minute or so? Can that be caused by the impeller jug?

No, is secondary to the Impellor jug being faulty and indicates that the base tray underneath is also flooded.

Does that mean I’ll just have to remove water from base tray and it’ll be alright?

I wouldn’t say alright but it will work again I expect though it has a leak somewhere that needs sorting for a lasting solution.

    Thank you. 🙂

I’ll try to replace the impeller jug this weekend then will monitor machine’s state. Hopefully it’ll come to its senses. If not then I am not sure if it will be easy to fix the leak?

The device is slightly more than 7 years old so not sure if it would make sense to invest much time/money in repair.

Located the impeller jug but how do I disconnect it? Do I need to remove base tray (if yes then how? I can’t seem to find any way to do so) or is it just a matter of getting long-nosed pliers and wiggle the thing out of pipes?

Remove the inlet valve access plastic plate. Use a hand held hair dryer to warm the blue PVC hose clips and hoses from the impeller jug. Be sure and fit it the same way around!

Re: Bosch Exxcel SGS46E02 water problem

Thanks again (and again and again… :))

    Here’s what I did:
    1. Disconnected impeller jug pipe from large transparent thing (heat exchanger?)
    2. Opened the inlet access plate and removed the whole assembly.
    3. Replaced the device and assembled it all back.

There were no PVC clips but rather metal ones so it was much easier to use pliers for it.

The machine is now back to life but after the first cycle there was some water left inside of the washing compartment. It never happened before so not sure if I did something wrong.

Apart from that water thing it seem to work very well.

BTW there was no water in the tray – there was nothing at all apart from very dry and very dead spider. 🙂
