    I have a WDM130 01, S/N 37616000 1146 4596.

Since new, there never seems to be enough water in the drum, although the washing appears to be wet if I stop it in mid wash and open the door (after a wait for the interlock to time out), and after the final spin, I can rinse soap out of the clothes by immersing them in clean water in the sink. Is there any way of increasing the depth of the water (say) to partway up the door glass during both the wash and rinse cycles? I always press the “6kg” and “extra rinse” buttons, but still never see any water in the drum.

The water level will not be the problem 345.

It’s more likely the machine isn’t draining quickly enough, have you checked the filter and the drain hose installation (if it’s a new machine) ?

    Thanks Dave,

It’s not a new machine, I have just taken it over from The Boss, who is now too ill to use it. I checked the filter and the pump outlet, no problems there. I read in the instruction booklet that it is very rare to see water in the drum, so I imagine that it is meant to run with insufficient water to properly immerse the clothes. I did a Number 4 load, and added 4 gallons of warm water from a watering can through the soap tray after the wash cycle had stareted, so that the water level was about one inch up the door glass. Similarly, I added 2 gallons of cold water to each of the rinses, and at the end of the program, lo and behold, clean clothes and with soap solution left in. It is obvious to me that in order to make the machine as energy efficient as possible, Hoover have cut down too far on the water consumption. I would far prefer to have clean, soap free washing at the expense of using an extra 10 gallons of water and a bit of extra power to heat it up, than have a machine that cannot perform correctly. Does anyone know where I can get a repair manual for this machine, to see if it is possible to adjust the water level in the drum?

    Regards, Iain.

    Re: Hoover WDM130 Water level

Your machine fills up with only 6 litres of water so therefore if you test it (empty) and observe the water level, it will appear only about 6cms in the bottom of the drum. 🙁

But do please be aware that the drum ‘paddles’ function not only acts as an agitator for the clothes, but also scoops the water up and sprays them with water and cleaning agent. That combined action is the secret of modern washing techniques and we no longer need rely on giving the clothes a good soaking in gallons of precious water as in yesteryear 😀

I’m sure your washing comes out clean enough if you follow the manufacturers instructions closely, and do please refrain from adding more water as this is detrimental to its design capabilities 😯
