    Hello all,

    I was a member here a looong time ago but have just re-registered…

    I have a Caple wine fridge (Wi6125) which around its first birthday decided it didn’t want to refrigerate any more.
    The original merchant has gone bust but the credit card co. have agreed to resolve the problem if I can provide an independent engineer’s assessment on headed company paper. They want to know:

    * What is the fault?
    * Can it be repaired?
    * If it can be repaired, how much will it cost?

    So, can someone recommend a company/engineer able to undertake this inspection in the Guildford area please?

    The fault: – The fridge powers up and the compartment temperatures can be set on the displays however neither compartment ever gets cold. The fan (I think) also runs but nothing else, at least it sounds like it is a/the fan running…

    The fridge was close to £600 so am obviously disappointed it’s failed so quickly. Is this typical of Caple fridges, I thought they were “ok”?

    Thanks Don,

    I’m not quite sure how the tool works but I get no returns for my Guildford postcode (GUxx). I have to change to Portsmouth (PO) or Kingston (KT) to get any hits but these are then quite far away.

    However if I look without any search terms I’m surrounded by possible repairers 🙂 I just can’t see the repairer’s details from that view (the details don’t seem to appear if I hover over each icon on the map).

    Perhaps it is the case that Caple repairers are not that widespread in my area?

    There is nothing expressly unique to it being a Caple appliance. Therefore most local refrigeration companies are more than capable (pardon the pun) of advising and repairing your errant appliance. 😀

    One thought- have you contacted the manufacturer as they might help with all or some of the costs if it is only just out of warranty.

    I have had a good will repair of a BMW MINI after the three year warranty where we just paid for an hours labour and the very expensive part, a steering rack, was FOC. Also had an Iiyama computer lcd monitor die at two years old and when i phoned the manufacturer for advice they said it was a known fault and sent me a free replacement without me even asking- I was astonished.

    Thanks for all the comments / suggestions, will try one of the local non-Caple places first. Will also give Caple a ring to see what they say.
