Recently our machine has started to vibrate badly when spinning, the only way to stop it is to lower the spin speed. If the machine is spun with no load in it spins up fine with no vibration. I thought it might be the dampers so I fitted a new pair but it’s still the same. I had a look in the manual and there is this note

The machine s fitted with a special electronic device, which prevents the spin cycle should the load be unbalanced. This reduces noise and vibration in the machine…..

I’m guessing that this not functioning and causing the problem but I can find out how this is sensed, can anyone help?

Check the tachometer magnet fitted on the opposite end of the motor shaft. The magnet or coil have come adrift.

I have had a look, the tacho and magnet are both there.

I never imagined that they wouldn’t be there TBH. But have you removed the coil and checked see if the magnet is attached to the shaft? Have you checked the coils electrical resistance? Are the motor terminals showing continuity? And such like….:D
