    at the end of the day after all the years of hard work , what is a company you have built up over 35 years worth.
    it has a database of 75000 clients, 10 engineers, a solid steady stream of work though some good contracts, good turn over and a reasonable profit.

    I am interested in finding out

    has anyone looked into the saleable value of their business ?

    There are loads of ways to value the asset unfortunately and just like talking to an accountant each way will provide a varying answer and also it will vary by trade.

    A very rough guide, which we use to determine if we will look further is 6x Net Profit – debt, after stock at cost is removed.

    We have a right laugh at those trying to sell a business whom have spent their time reducing the NP figure to reduce paying Corp Tax etc. because it effectively means the business ain’t worth squat afterwards.
