    Hi,

First time I’ve had a appliance issue; came home and discovered that my fridge freezer was mid-defrosted. Fridge section was very warm and freezer contents where 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} defrosted. Has happened before but it was because the door hadn’t sealed shut, this time it didn’t appear to be that issue. I switched machine off/on and turned thermostat control up full, over night it seemed to sort itself out. I had noticed that the surrounding sides of the fridge freezer had also cooled down, they were hot to the touch – unsure if this helps or not.

I’ve kept an eye on it, reduced the thermostat and noticed a reduction in fridge cooling but freezer appears fine. I’ve seen an old post about similar issue which replies suggested it was a compressor issue, not thermostat. Is a compressor issue repairable, is it expensive? I’m wondering if to repair or to buy a new fridge freezer. If theres a call out charge what kind of scale am I looking at please?

    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Marty
