Participantstrange fault on this one,the machine is dead, on testing removed the interlock, when I put a meter between the blue cable to interlock and cabinet (earth) the machine comes alive !! put it back together, ran for a few minutes then when dead again.(repeated worked again)
I expect either the facia pcb or the other small square pcb. can anyone please advise as to which one is required. please johnMay 27, 2014 at 1:49 pm #414418Martin

It is shouting out dryer earth leak to me. Also check the earth return because the RCD/MCB should have gone pop when you did that with your test lead blimey! 🙁

Martin, I often put the meter across earth (cabinet) & live to test for voltage, I was feeding the earth (cabinet) via the meter to the blue cable (negitive) to the pcb. !!
The cabinet was not live !!! so a strange fault. !!May 27, 2014 at 3:05 pm #414420Martin

Yeah OK, what is the state of the element on a Megger test anyway?

Tell you the truth as the machine was dead I didn’t realise it would be the elements as in the past these type of machines have always run, but will abort but never dead!! But of course if you are telling me this could happen, I will have to return & test them.

No I’m not telling you anything but rather suggesting that earth leakage on the elements can throw the whole electronics to cock! It is therefore essential on all service calls to, first and foremost, check the insulation readings. Any slight leak however minor it appears on the meter can cause problems of this nature. I have NOT come across this problem before and am giving my take on what MAY be the problem. And that could save you time head scratching and guessing.
….and of course the interlock itself may be to blame anyway! 😉
HTH? 😀

Cheers Martin, I understand your advice, in hindsight I should have tested the elements, will make sure I do in future. john
