ParticipantHad this Fridge Freezer for four year, I reckon. Recently moved it from one house to another, but let it stand for 48 hours before restarting it.
It seems to get cold enough (fridge compartment around 5 degrees, freezer anything between -17 and -23). The trouble is, the compressor seems to be running almost continually. Maybe 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time, or more.
I don’t *think* it’s the freezer thermostat, because at one time when we’d been moving stuff around on the shelves the freezer warmed up to -13, and this set the inbuilt alarm off. So the machine seemed to know that it wasn’t cold enough. Took a while to get back to normal temps.
Any ideas? We bought it because it had a good efficiency rating, but it can’t be very efficient to have the compressor running all the time!
Thanks for any help / tips.

If it is a frost free unit then it will run for about 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}+ of the time it is plugged in. Any FF unit does that.
If it is abnormal in any way, such as wild temperature fluctuations etc then there may be any number of things that could cause that. From the temperature range given, allowing for settings and ambient, it’s probably not that far off the mark.
The temperature rise to -13?C is a problem if it persists.

Yes it is Frost Free, but it’s hardly ever used so the doors stay mainly closed.
We have another ‘main’ F/F, a Bosch, which is also frost free but the compressor certainly isn’t running anything like that amount of time. It comes on for a short time after you’ve opened the door, but spends most of its time off.
I was expecting similar behaviour from the Liebherr. It’s comforting to know that it’s normal for this machine to have the compressor running most of the time. Wonder why the two machines are so different?
Thanks for your help – really appreciate it.
