First time user….. We have a great cooker but last week the oven stop heating. Fan is still running, and thermostat light goes on upon turning dial. Removed oven internal rear panel and element looks fine. Hoping not having to remove cooker to replace it. Removed hob and did ohm check on oven switch (power removed). Compared to ground, just about every terminal showed ~23ohm. Front 2 x terminals on both sides very close to ground. No open circuit it seems. Is this a switch problem? How do I check because wiring diagram nowhere to be found. If needing new switch, which one for this unit?

Multiple variants of this unit, we are going to need the sixteen digit serial number to work out any parts/technical for you.

There was / is a known problem with Rosieres selector switches but without the Serial no I cannot tell if your model is included.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not sure where to find the S.No. Bottom right has a decal with model and power wiring connection guide. Opposite side has paper sticker with model and a number like 90510517.

    Hi

Rosiers last produced in March 1993. Shows 3 gas burners and one electric hotplate.

Which setting are you using it on ?

The model shows either conventional or base or fan heating options.

Fan-boosted oven. Still can’t find serial number.

    Hi

Have you metered the element ?.

This is where I would have gone first and foremost.

Thanks Bryan. It seems difficult to get to the element terminals as the cooker is quite firmly installed. It has large copper gas fitting and so would need an authorised gas fitter to help get to the back panel for access to the terminals. I undid the element’s 3 hex screws, but there appears little ‘give’ in dragging the element forward into the oven space to get to the terminals from inside. This is why I metered the spade connectors on the switch itself, hoping that one side of the element was ground, and the other side available on the switch – somewhere. So I read ~23 ohm just about everywhere, which could have been either the top grill element or the oven element at back. No connectors appeared to be open circuit to ground which gives me hope that the element is OK. 240V/240V/23=2500W, which sounds about right. I could restore power to the cooker and metered V on some of those terminals, but just a little nervous about that because the terminals are very close to each other and there appears to be no isolation between them.

That would mean an international flight… Melbourne Australia.
You’re welcome to come on down, but thanks for offering. I think I’ve found a Rosieres service agent within an hour’s drive, but I just wanted to see what simple checks I might perform, to accurately identify the problem/solution. You guys seem to know your stuff very well.

Turns out it was an open circuit in the element. Service techo visited and replaced element in 30 mins ($190 for part + $130 for labour + tax).
But now the electic hob hotplate gets a bit too hot, even on setting 1.
