ModeratorFault caused by the valve failing , the one attached to the float chamber, not the one on the water bottle. The spring was in the bottom of the dryer and the valve had apparently pinged out and got lost. 😥
Now it wasn’t much fun changing the float chamber on the Hotpoint condensor dryers but this looks like an absolute brute of a job.
The valve appears to be fixed to the float chamber by two screws but is impossible to reach, even with my dainty, slender arms. 😀
Has anyone ever changed one of these, is it a complete and total strip down to the floor?I always thought the Candy dryers where some of the worst designed dryers for access but these look even worse. :rolls:
PS. Is this valve available as a separate spare and if so does anyone have the part number?
TIA.
Jim.

Hi Jim
Part numbers are
2961000100 for valve that fits onto tank
2985700100 for valve that fits onto chassis
Not had to change one yet only to clear fluff blocking holes in valve which I done form the rear.
Could not find a manual that related to this modelGeoff

Thanks Geoff, when you say from rear I assume you mean by taking out 50 odd screws to get the back off. :rolls:
I did notice there was some gunge in the float chamber by removing the small plate at the back but how stupid and useless is that, you cannot remove the top of the float chamber unless you also remove all the screws and remove the back. 😥

Hi Jim
Na the only ones I have done I have been able to get unblocked by removing plate.
Sorry not been there to deal with replacing valve but looking at the parts picture that looks a hell of a job as it sits below plastic base.
Are you able to remove screws using a long screw driver while dryer is on its back? Used to have to do this with some other make of dryer whose name escapes me.

Don’t know if this helps but I fitted a belt yesterday, once all the back screws are removed the drum comes out dead easy. Should be able to get at it fairly easily then

Don’t think you can Andy, it is right underneath the whole of the plastic moulding in the base.
I do have a long screwdriver but the slot for the water bottle is far too narrow to get your arm in to get hold of the part.
You can do this on the Hotpoint condensor dryer because the water container and the slot is wider. That was until they made the valve part of the float chamber, then it was a complete strip down on those as well. 😥
I do have an idea, I think a small inspection hatch in the base is called for. The dryer is owned by a good mate of mine so he won’t mind me experimenting. 😉

Ah right. Can’t say I took to much notice of the chamber. Let us know how you get on I’m sure it will be one for the future

Do it from the front having the machine tilted back at a 45 degree angle, take the water bottle out and use an extra long screwdriver (magnetic head) and a 2FT reach Flexible claw pick up tool to put water holder assembly back into place.
