    Hi,

My 3.5yr old Candy condenser dryer (CIC60) has stopped heating up. I guess it may be the thermostat or the heater.

Does anyone know how/if I can tell easily ?

The machine is still covered by the Candy parts warranty, but at £85 for the service call, I am tempted to just buy a new machine, as the original dryer was only double that.

Any suggestions much appreciated (apart from not buying a Candy again !!)

    Cheers,

    Steve.

The heater and the main thermostat are part of the same unit Steve at about so it’s probably that at fault.

There is one other thermostat which is far more uncommon.

Heater unit is around the £40 mark to buy.

    Thanks for the info. Dave

I had a quick look at the heater unit located on the back of the machine and I noticed that some of the wires from the heater unit seem to pass into the bottom of the machine, so I guess I need to get the drum out to access/change them.

Sounds like a job for a professional to me!

If so, by the time I’ve paid labour costs on top, think I’m tempted to look at a new machine.

I found a couple of Creda models ( TCR2 and TCR3) around the £200 mark. Any comments ?

    Can’t stretch to a Bosch I’m afraid !

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Creda are OK generally, do you need a condenser dryer though ?

You could get a vented Bosch for the same price 😉

    Dave.
