Hi…..can anyone help! We have a five year old Hotpoint FDL570 which has three flashing lights (salt, rinse aid and wash). everything was working fine until a leak developed in the waste hose, which I replaced. In the process of changing it I had to lay the machine on it’s front (door). As soon as it was righted it started to display the error message…..any thoughts, is it something simple or time to give up and buy a new one?

Apart from tipping it upside down, lying it on its front is possibly the worst thing you could have done. The electronic controls are low down at the front, you may well have damaged those in some way.

That error code means the base is flooded so you may be lucky and just need to examine your handiwork for leaks.

Many thanks for that, learnt something and won’t do that again. I was in a hurry to fix the leaking waste pipe as it had just flooded the new solid wood kitchen floor fitted three days earlier. should I have laid it on it’s side?
As to fixing it, there is no sign of any water in the base of the unit, when I opened the bottom to access the waste pipe there was what looked like a polystyrene float with a switch,I may have pressed it, is it a water cut-off switch. I there a way of resetting it.

You may have got the switch or the float stuck, it doesn’t need resetting, it should drop down when or if there is no water in the base.

Many thanks for such a quick response!

If I open it up again to check is there anything else I should be looking for or is that the most likely cause of the error message? Also Sounds daft question but is it best to lay it on right or left side?

    Cheers for all your help!!!

On it’s back for that model, that polystyrene float rises if the base gets flooded, switches on the pump and displays the error message. If you have got it stuck without any water in the base then it will do exactly what you have described.
