Well I have now given up.
As I reported a year or so ago my Lamona – Beko fridge freezer started to freeze my milk.

It was 1 month outside its warranty.
I put it on a timer as a stop gap measure. One hour on, two hours off.
It sort of worked. But it’s not right is it!
I tried all sorts of things, like putting a variable resistor in series with the temperature sender to make the controller think it was down to temperature.
This was after I swapped controller PCB and checked out the control knob. And opening it all up to ventilation. etc etc.

I have come to the conclusion that the system has lost gas which means the compressor keeps running since the evaporator never gets cold enough.

Meanwhile it tries and tries which results in the milk freezing.
The Lamona/Beko is not capable of being re gassed.
    So it’s new fridge time.

    What to get?
Another Beko unit which will fail in 25 months?
Or a Bosch which will cost 2 times as much and will last 2 times as long? Or a Neff for 3 times the price..
Oh, and of course I know the Beko will be an exact fit into the Howden kitchen unit.

Coin tossing starts now. Heads I lose. Tails I lose.

The winners are the clever designers who get their fridges to fail one month after the warranty ends. With no re gassing available.

And of course I have wasted electricity running the fridge.
    And my time.

We live in a disposable world.

You can Regas any fridge freezer as long as there are no internal leaks.

The copper pipe ends are short and crimped/soldered/welded/brazed.

I wouldn’t have thought that they could be re-accessed?
And in any case the original leak will still be there somewhere.

I reckon on buying a new Beko. It will grate but I will save money and hey – it might last longer than the first one.

And the best bit? – Since it is an integrated unit it is hidden until you open the door. I shall print off some Neff labels to stick onto the odd drawer or panel. How cool is that!!
