Our old Ariston washer has finally bitten the dust. I’ve replaced the bearings twice and the heater has been repaired umpteen times. Last time I replaced the bearings I broke one of the lower shock absorbers and now the heating element has fallen out. (Yes – halfway through the Canadian Grand Prix a puddle appeared under the kitchen door. This was not greeted well by my beloved.)

So it’s time for a new one. Do I spend about £400 on a Bosch (hopefully at that price they don’t have a sealed drum) or do I go for an ISE?

The offspring are just about to leave home so it’ll mostly just be the two of us in future.

Does it make sense to spend out on the more expensive machine, or are the midrange Bosch good enough?

mid range bosch machine are ok. it is only the very cheapest bosch that had a sealed tub all the rest can be repaired (from the ones I see )

if you want to spend a bit more look at miele

dont know about the ISE as have not seen one this expensive to look at, maybe someone who knows the machine can comment

Maybe I’m biased but I would prefre the ISE… I love how quiet they are and I like the idea of ‘peace of mind’ in the 10 year warantee.

I’ve seen a Siemens at 499 – looks to be decently made and comes with a 5 year warranty. That’ll do us I think.
