I have a 2 year old Beko fridge/freezer and I have just recently noticed the fridge has got a lot colder and it has started to collect ice on the top half of the back panel.
I assumed it must be the thermostat gone but notice this type of fridge does not have one but has “sensors” and a PCB to control temp etc. (it seems these “sensors” can be bought but they just look like a piece of plastic to me! (http://www.buyspares.co.uk/fridge-freez … ef=1212550)
Sry UKW you don’t stock them 😕
My question is should I replace the PCB as I cannot see how to access the sensors or where they would be situated or could it be something else? (door seal and defrost pipe ok, freezer fine, also the 47k variable pot that the knob connects too measures ok)
    Thanks in advance

If it is just collecting ice at the top and not evenly over the back the fault is most likely low on gas.

It would run colder as it would not be cold enough near the sensor to turn it off.

You will find if you touch the compressor at the back it will be running hot.

    Hi Samuri,
Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.
There seems to be an even sheet of frost over the complete top half of the fridge back with an even line which stops pretty much halfway.
What would your advice be? I have already ordered a replacement PCB for the back which I will try anyway.
I guess if it has leaked the fridge/freezer will need throwing?

If the PCB does not cure the problem then it will be the sensor as it is freezing evenly on the rear panel.

The sensor is foamed in and cannot be replaced.

Beko seem to be good at designing their compressors to leak gas/fail just outside the warranty.

I wonder how much testing they had to do to get it just right. Putting in just the right amount of gas.

Then when you find the warranty, it’s run out.

Happened to me with my Lamona. Day perfect. Apart from it going wrong it was a nice fridge.

    They last two years.
