    Hey guys,

I wonder if any of you could advice me as to the likely cause of a fault on a Hotpoint WMM39A. When put on a fast spin the machine pumps out and drum turns, this goes on for about 90 seconds before a click and after a short wait the interlock disengages.

The customer originally told me that it was struggling to go into spin, I removed the brushes and although half worn down didn’t look bad. I changed them over to test. It was then I discovered that the machine didn’t really enter a spin at all.

I’ve removed the module and checked visually, all seems fine. I’m thinking it will be the module, any advice would be appreciated.

Have you tried the last error detected routine for the WMA machines shown in the Known Error Codes thread, it is the same basic machine?

Bugger! I’d not realised that, looks like a trip back to the machine 🙁

Been back and ran the test and it came back with a motor triac short circuit. I ran the machine more thoroughly than yesterday and found that during a wash cycle the drum turned extremely quickly, something I’d never experienced before (does that show a lack of experience?). Wiring appears to be fine and brushes new so it looks like a board fault.

Am I right in thinking this is the same board as shared by numerous WMM and WMA machines? What are your opinions in terms of repairing the machine, the customer has asked for my opinion relating to cost of repair over quality of machine.

Could be a loose tacho magnet, have seen them come loose on FHP and CESET motors but you should get a different last error code for that. Does sound as though the pcb is at fault but the chances are that something else has blown the triac. 🙁 give all the wires in the motor plug a good tug first, they are prone to breaking without being obvious.

    Module is a C00202236 ( 1604321)

Thanks for the advice, I did give the machine a good once over, the one issue I found was that a wire had rubbed on the concrete weight leaving it bare, I insulated this prior to running the machine, excuse my ignorance but could this have caused the issue, it hasn’t come into contact with any other bare wiring or metal.

Could well be the cause of the pcb failure, usually when two wires have rubbed together though. ?
