ParticipantHi all,
I would be grateful if anyone could help me. I have a integrated hotpoint bf162 dishwasher which is about 10yrs old. Recently it stopped working mid cycle and would not drain. I have subsequently removed it and fitted a brand new drain pump which has resolved the draining problem, however now when any wash cycle is selected the D/W drains initially as it should but fails to stop filling resulting in water spilling out all over the kitchen floor. I am able to drain the D/W by resetting the wash programme but just keep going round in circles (flooding the kitchen). Getting a little fed up of mopping the floor and thinking of biting the bullet & buy a new D/W.
Thanks
Paul C

How did you access the pump to replace, did you lie the machine on its side, if so which side?
Edited the thread title for you, it’s a BFI, I is for integrated. 😉

Pump replacement was pretty straightforward. Turn off power then disconnect the water supply hose. I drained as much water as I could then put a couple of towels on the floor, lay the D/W on its right hand side as you look at it then remove the 6 base plate screws. You can see the drain pump right away (drain hose connected to it), slacken the drain hose clip with some pliers and push the hoes out of the way. Then just a case of removing the stop screw on the drain pump and the pump assembly twists off its mount, then pull off the 2 spade connectors. Job done, fitting is the process reversed. Don’t forget the towels, you’ll need them………

Wrong side, should have laid it on it’s left hand side or on it’s back . 🙁
Strong chance of water running into the pressure switch the way you did it.
Sod’s law, if there is a right way and a wrong way and you don’t know (or don’t ask) chances are you will do it the wrong way. -
